How to Prep for your Shoot
Hey Seniors-to-Be,
The countdown to your senior year is on, and with it comes the excitement of capturing this significant chapter through a lens. Your senior photo shoot is an opportunity to freeze-frame moments, express your personality, and create memories that will last a lifetime. So, let's dive into how you can make the most of this experience and prepare for a day that's all about you!
1. Reflect on Your Style:
- Your senior photos are a visual celebration of who you are. Take a moment to reflect on your personal style. Are you casual, boho, classic, or a mix of everything? Your wardrobe should reflect your unique personality.
2. Plan Your Outfits:
- Once you've nailed down your style, plan your outfits accordingly. Consider bringing a variety, from a timeless look to something more trend-forward. Don't forget accessories—they can add that extra flair to your photos.
3. Location Matters:
- Think about the backdrop that will best tell your story. Whether it's a natural setting, an urban landscape, or a blend of both, choose a location that resonates with you. Coordinate your outfit choices with the selected setting for a cohesive look.
4. Time It Right:
- Schedule your shoot during the golden hours—I love late afternoon—when the lighting is soft and magical. This ensures that your photos have a warm and flattering glow.
5. Hair and Makeup:
- Keep your look natural, but feel free to glam it up a bit if that's your style. Consider getting your hair done professionally and we will take care of your makeup at my house.
6. Express Yourself:
- Your senior photos are a chance to express who you are at this moment in time. Bring props, accessories, or anything else that showcases your hobbies, passions, or achievements.
7. Relax and Have Fun:
- On the day of your shoot, take a deep breath and remember to have fun. Relax in front of the camera, trust me to guide you and your posing. This will give you the best truly you photos.
8. Involve Your Support Squad:
- Bring along a friend or family member for support and encouragement. Having someone there to share the experience can make it even more memorable. The moms almost always come, but you could bring a friend too.
9. Multiple Outfits = More Variety:
- Consider bringing a few outfit changes. This gives you the chance to showcase different facets of your personality and adds variety to your final photo collection. I think 4 is great and 5 if we have time.
10. Trust Your Photographer:
- I am there to capture the best version of you. Trust me, and take guidance on poses and locations, and enjoy the collaborative process.
Your senior photo shoot is about celebrating the incredible person you've become. By taking the time to prepare and infusing your unique style into every detail, you'll ensure that the photos reflect the real, authentic you.
